WE CARE is a program started by Michelle Lewis that helps
empower women of MCC to earn a living on their own. There are 5 ladies
currently involved they are, Susan, Zippy, Maria, Silvia, and Joyce. They meet
three times a week (apart from their other side jobs) and make paper bead
necklaces to sell. Currently they are trying to get there products out to
places in Kenya like Wamunyu and hotel gift shops. Their ultimate goal is to
become self-sufficient by selling their products and then being able to add
more women to the program.
This program is truly amazing and I felt honored to be able
to see them making these beads in person! Please support them by going to their
website or Facebook and buying one of their beautiful pieces! Also, $25/month
per artisan helps to supplement their income. If you feel lead please support
one of the women in becoming self-sufficient!
